How We Work

Sustainability hub success stories

New Growth wants to expand resilient hubs in Nepal and Asia, addressing challenges like difficult terrain, poor infrastructure, food insecurity, caste issues, and limited agricultural funding. The goal is to establish self-sufficient environments by integrating people and nature. These hubs, central to communities, serve as decision-making centres, promoting biodiversity conservation and food security. Aligned with ecological, social, and economic priorities, the strategy goes beyond carbon and nature sustainability, aiming to revitalize both forests and livelihoods.

Why This Project Needed

This project is vital as rural communities in third-world countries face obstacles like reliance on traditional farming, limited job opportunities, and climate vulnerability. It aims to empower these communities through sustainable practices, job creation, and resilience-building, ensuring economic stability and food security.

“ I can see that the people are beginning to see that we are bringing them to a safer place , they were a little afraid but now that we have a central nursery they can see things are happening in the community and our impact is being felt around the community in how we are helping the poor.

Reforestation

Forests indeed play a crucial role in addressing the impacts of climate change, poverty alleviation, biodiversity conservation, and combating desertification. Instead of merely planting trees, our approach focuses on comprehensive landscape restoration and long-term protection against deforestation. We actively engage in replanting community forests, addressing the environmental challenges that impact both people wildlife and their surroundings. Our mission extends beyond tree planting; we strive to empower communities to become custodians of their natural environment, fostering a sustainable and harmonious relationship with nature.

Our donation of fruit &nut trees to farmers is a key component of our model, designed not only to provide support but also to build trust. This initiative is a strategic step in helping farmers transition away from subsistence farming. By offering fruit trees, we aim to contribute to sustainable agriculture, providing farmers with a diversified source of income and encouraging a shift towards more resilient and economically viable practices. This approach not only supports immediate needs but also lays the foundation for long-term partnerships built on trust and mutual growth. Our model ensures that your tree gift is passed on to the next community. We don’t believe in hand outs , we believe in passing trees between communities and sharing the benefits of how empowerment together can change lives.

We want your gift to keep on giving so we can continue to impact on new communities and set other tree programs in place. This is the foundation of how your impact will go on creating resilient communities.

Social Wellbeing

We're placing a strong emphasis on the overall well-being of people, understanding that our impact goes beyond just income. Our mission prioritizes gender rights and empowers women through micro-businesses and technology. This approach contributes not only to economic development but also fosters social equity, especially for marginalized groups. By offering women opportunities, training micro loans and access to technology, we aim to boost their confidence and enhance the overall resilience and sustainability of communities. It's a comprehensive strategy that acknowledges the interconnected nature of economic, social, and gender-related factors, promoting positive and lasting change.
